Lancia Delta S4 Gr.B Olympus Rally 1986
The United States is not the biggest rally country. However, the WRC (World Rally Championship) has visited the USA five times: in 1973 and 1974 at the Press-on-Regardless Rally (Michigan State) and from 1986 to 1988 at the Olympus Rally (Washington State). In 1986, while Group B rallies thrilled fans around the world, the drivers' title was decided in the USA between two "flying Finns": Juha Kankkunen (Peugeot 205 T16) and Markku Alen (Lancia Delta S4). If Alen won the rally, Kankkunen secured his first world title by finishing second! Behind him, Paolo Alessandrini finished sixth in his one and only WRC rally with the Lancia Delta S4 Gr.B!
