In 1964, Ford aimed to attract the hearts of young American drivers who dreamed of something other than Dad's typical sedan. Under the guidance of General Manager Lee Iacocca, Ford invented a sporty compact sedan. The Pony Car was born! Inspired by European two-seater coupes, the Mustang is a short and sporty version of the Ford Falcon. While legend attributes its name to the American P51 Mustang fighter plane used during the Second World War, its patronymic actually comes from the Mustang, the famous American wild horse. Quite a symbol! In fact, this animal is the logo on every Ford Mustang. 60 years after its debut, it is an icon of the American automobile. It's certainly the best-known US car in the world. Its lines and the roaring sound of its engine have gone down in history!
