The Cordoba WRC is the highlight of Seat's WRC career. After three titles in the “2L” category with the Ibiza Kitcar, the Spanish manufacturer decided to enter the premier class and developed a World Rally Car. The Cordoba was chosen as the basis for this ambitious project, which was unveiled in May 1998 at the Oporto Car Show. The car made its debut at Rally Finland the same year. A year later, still at the Rally Finland, the EVO 2 was launched. Shortly afterwards, it made its asphalt debut at San Remo. Two of the three official Cordobas entered retired, but Harri Rovanperä managed to finish the event in 16th place. This was the Cordoba WRC's best result on the famous Italian rally.
