Alors en fin de vie, l’Audi 80 s’est vue offrir un beau baroud d’honneur avec le lancement de la version « Competition ». Celle-ci a été conçue afin de permettre à la marque allemande de s’engager en STW (le championnat qui remplaçait le DTM). Une version d’homologation qui est devenue une série limitée très prisée des fans d’Audi. Notamment en France où l’Audi 80 a remporté 3 fois le championnat national de SuperTourisme (1991, 1992 et 1993) !
