In the 90s, Volvo sought to rejuvenate and revitalize its brand image. In 1992, the 850 was launched on the markets, and its success was immediate. The following year, a Break version completed the range. In 1994, Volvo launched its Break in the BTCC (British Touring Car Championship). A daring bet that would be rewarded with good times in qualifying and a 5th place as a best result. A commitment that would serve as a fulcrum for the launch of the Volvo 850 T5-R Estate, a sporty and upscale version of the 850. Available in a limited series, the Volvo 850 T5-R Estate met with a lot of success despite its relatively high price.
