Although the original Matra Rancho already has that offroad look, the Grand Raid built between 1980 and 1981 added equipment that would make it go even further into the wild. Two adjustable projectors were added on to the base of the windscreen, along with a limited slip differential, numerous protective layers and especially the winch and emergency wheel on the rear of the car. No doubt then that this car was never designed with a simple road in mind.
