In 1983, Ford redesigned the Fiesta to give it a new look, with new bumpers as well as a revamped interior. The XR2 variant, still in the game, was fitted with a new engine, the 1600cm3 borrowed from the Escort XR3. With 96 hp now under the bonnet, the Fiesta XR2 pulled off some impressive performances for a compact car of its time: less than 10 seconds to reach 100 km/h, and a maximum speed of 180 km/h.
