Marketed in 1978, the Renault 18 is a lambda sedan that borrows the basics of the R12. But in 1980, Renault struck a blow and unveiled the 18 Turbo. This model became the very first large series car from the brand to be equipped with a Turbo engine! With its inline 4 block cylinder engines in line of 1,565 cm3 the R18 sees its power almost doubled and rise to 110hp. Renault’s creation has only one flaw in it: its price. At the time, this R18 Turbo was sold at 61,000 Francs (around 23,000 €), almost as much as a BMW 320! While there was little success for the car in 1980, the R18 Turbo has become a holy grail for collectors today.
