History of the Czech brand

Skoda is a Czech automotive brand founded in 1895 under the name Laurin & Klement by Václav Laurin and Václav Klement. The company began by manufacturing bicycles, before creating its first automobile in 1906 (Voiturette A). In 1925, Laurin & Klement merged with Skoda Works, a Czech industrial group, to increase production capacity and expand. The new entity took the name “Skoda”. In the '30s, the company produced a lot of military equipment and became renowned for its cannons. At the end of the war, the company was nationalized by the Czechoslovak state. The company expanded greatly and its models became popular. After a slump in the 1980s, Skoda became the fourth brand in the Volkswagen Group in 1991. Since then, the Czech brand has established itself as one of the most dynamic throughout Europe. One success follows another, as do rally titles. There's no end in sight to the success story!
