Patrick Bernardini is a Corsican driver, born in 1962, whose career began in 1982 at the wheel of a BMW. In the early 90s, the Bavarian marque loyalist found himself driving for Yacco in a Ford Escort RS Cosworth Gr.A in the World Rally Championship. Bernardini won the French asphalt rally title in this Escort in '94 and '95. In 1996, he took part in the legendary Rallye Monte-Carlo which, on the principle of alternation, was exceptionally outside the world calendar! The favourites were Armin Schwarz (Toyota Celica) and François Delecour (Peugeot 306 Maxi). The German encountered mechanical problems and made a few mistakes, while "Freine Tard" was unable to get ahead of a Gr.A with his two-wheel drive KitCar. Patrick Bernardini won the 1996 Monte-Carl' and added his name to the list of winners of this legendary event.
