The Lancia Stratos was the first car specifically created to compete in rally. It quickly became an icon of the sport, thanks to its unique design and outstanding results. In 1978, the already legendary San Remo Rally saw Lancia shine against its Italian rival Fiat. Flying Finn Markku Alén' Stratos won the rally ahead of local Maurizio Verini's 131 Abarth. It was Lancia's best result of the season. They finished second in the manufacturers' championship thanks to this result.
