The Renault Kangoo, passion goes from Japan to miniature!
Renault Kangoo, its history.
The Kangoo was Renault's successor to the Express at the end of the 90s. It was presented at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1997 as the Pangea concept. Its launch marked the beginning of the “ludospaces”, a term used to describe family vehicles derived from an SUV. At the time, Kangoo stood out thanks to its spaciousness and sliding side door, a real innovation that was undoubtedly responsible for the success of Renault's vehicle. The first generation sold over two million units worldwide: Phase 1 was produced between 1997 and 2003, and was replaced by Phase 2, marketed until 2010. From November 1999, the Kangoo was equipped with a second sliding door.
In Argentina, the model is even sold until 2018! Finally, Nissan offers a version with a restyled grille, the Kubistar, between 2003 and 2009.
In 2000, Schlesser entered two Kangoo RX4s in place of his Buggy in the legendary Paris-Dakar race! It's proof of the popularity of this atypical recreational vehicle.
Also, children of the 2000s remember with nostalgia the mythical “Kangaroo” advertisement!
Kangoo Jamboree, passion made in Japan!
The Kangoo is an international success, sold in over 50 countries, but if there's one country that has fallen head over heels in love with the Kangoo, it's Japan! The Land of the Rising Sun has fallen in love with this iconic design: their love for Renault's creation is such that the Japanese have created a rally dedicated exclusively to this model. Since 2009, the Kangoo Jamboree has brought together hundreds of Kangoo owners in Japan, providing an unprecedented opportunity to discover models modified with originality, or to discover very French editions on the other side of the world. Such is the case with the Kangoo “La Poste”, whose yellow color is highly prized. A few years ago, the French company even sold over 150 units in the Land of the Rising Sun! We can't tell you how popular this model is over there.
